MULTILIT Professional Training Workshops

MULTILIT offers Professional Training Workshops for the MULTILIT Reading Tutor Program and Word Attack Skills Extension Program.

MULTILIT Reading Tutor Program

Although the manuals, DVDs and guides included in their MULTILIT Reading Tutor Program (Revised) are very comprehensive and explain how to implement the program in a one-to-one setting, training is highly recommended to give the user the extra confidence to get started.

This one-day workshop includes:

  • an overview of MULTILIT and our philosophy
  • an explanation of each of the program’s strands (MULTILIT Word Attack Skills, MULTILIT Sight Words and MULTILIT Reinforced Reading)
  • hands-on practical exercises in how to deliver all aspects of the program with particular emphasis on Word Attack Skills, Sight Words and book selection for Reinforced Reading
  • detailed notes for you to take home
  • coffee and tea on arrival, morning tea and lunch

MULTILIT workshops are conducted throughout the year in most Australian capital cities and other locations where there is sufficient demand. MULTILIT will also consider on-site training in your area if you have a large number of staff from your school, or from neighbouring schools, who are keen to be trained.

Who should attend this workshop?

  • School-based primary and high school teachers (special needs teachers and mainstream)
  • School-based teachers’ aides
  • School counsellors
  • Parents who are delivering the program to their children

If you are a teacher using the program in a school and would like to learn more about the MULTILIT program, you may like to consider the 3 day accreditation course.

New Zealand booking forms are here.

MULTILIT Word Attack Skills Extension Program

When teaching higher level reading skills, it is useful for the practitioner to have a thorough understanding of the concepts covered and methods implemented.

A one-day training workshop (9.30-3.30) on the MULTILIT Word Attack Extension Program is available for those who are new to MULTILIT, as well as those familiar with the MULTILIT Reading Tutor Program. Although it is not compulsory to attend training, we would strongly encourage attendance at the workshop to ensure that the program is implemented for the greatest effect.

Currently the workshops are happening in Sydney only, but these will be extended to other cities once there is sufficient demand. If you are unable to attend a workshop in Sydney, please register your interest in attending at another location by contacting the MULTILIT Office (multilit@mutlitlit.com).

The workshop will cover:

  • An overview of the program and its methodology
  • Essential background knowledge and research base
  • Step by step guide to all the interventions and strategies used
  • Trouble-shooting
  • Additional strategies for Reinforced Reading

There will be an opportunity to practise the interventions through application exercises.
