Project Coordinator (Full-Time, 38 hours per week, initial 6 mth contract)
MULTILIT Pty Ltd is one of the most successful spin-off companies of Macquarie University. MULTILIT (Making Up Lost Time In Literacy) offers intensive literacy interventions to students who are struggling to learn to read as quickly as their peers. This initiative is led by Professor Kevin Wheldall from Macquarie University, Director of Macquarie University Special Education Centre and Director of the MULTILIT Research Unit.
We are seeking to appoint a Project Coordinator. This role reports to the Project Manager and works in a team environment supporting MULTILIT Research based initiatives. If you have experience in project management or highly developed organisational and time-management skills, with a can-do attitude, we would like to hear from you. A degree in a relevant discipline is essential as is experience working in a research environment. This position is based in Sydney, and will initially be responsible for the day-to-day administration and coordination of existing MULTILIT projects.
Skills Required:
- Degree in a relevant discipline. A recognised qualification at postgraduate level is desirable
- Proven administrative, organisational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines, with a high level of attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Highly proficient in MS Applications including Word and Excel
- Experience in the use of statistical software is desirable
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to work discretely in a confidential environment
- Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, families, care-providers, and government/ non-government organisations
- Experience working in a research environment and/or experience undertaking standardised and curriculum-based assessments is desirable
- A current NSW driver’s licence

We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic people to join our MULTILIT team working as tutors, instructors or casual testers in our community projects and reading clinics across Sydney and in the Cape York area of Queensland.
Skills Required for MULTILIT Tutors
- A degree, or in progress, preferably in education, special education, psychology or related field
- Familiarity with the principles of positive reinforcement and behaviour management
- Effective communication skills for working with MULTILIT students
- Effective communication skills for interacting with parents and/or project partners
- Ability to work collaboratively as member of a team and to follow direction
- Ability to follow a prescribed program
- Ability to receive and act on feedback on performance
- Ability to work in a confidential environment
- Experience working with children
- An enthusiastic attitude
Skills Required for MULTILIT Instructors
- A degree and a recognised teaching qualification, preferably with special education training (or in progress) and/or a postgraduate qualification in special education completed or nearing completion
- Successful instructional experience
- Familiarity with the use of data-based instructional techniques and behavioural methods of teaching
- Familiarity with the principles of positive reinforcement and behaviour management
- Classroom behaviour management skills as exemplified in the Positive Teaching package (training provided by MULTILIT)
- Effective communication skills for working with students
- Ability to work in a confidential environment
- Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team and to follow direction
- Ability to report effectively to parents and/or project partners
- Ability to receive, and act on, feedback on performance
- Experience working with students who have special learning needs is desirable
Specific MULTILIT training will be provided to successful applicants.For all positions routine observation of program delivery is an ongoing condition of employment. The terms of employment will be governed by an Australian Workplace Agreement, which outlines all the benefits and conditions of employment.
A working with children check is a condition of employment with MULTILIT. Successful applicants will also be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
MULTILIT Reading Clinics
Sydney locations: Macquarie Park (North Ryde)
Student sessions: Monday-Friday during school terms with sessions starting 7am and ending 6.30pm. Some Saturday work may be available.
Casual part-time and possibly full-time permanent positions.

Sydney area: Schoolwise Tutorial Centre (Ashfield), Exodus Redfern Tutorial Centre (Alexandria).
Queensland: MULTILIT Cape York project (four locations)
Casual, part-time and full-time positions exist except in Cape York, where deployments are full-time for a minimum six-month relocation.
