Foundations, Assessment and Measurement of Behaviour

Positive Teaching and Learning Workshops provide teachers with training in evidence-based and effective practices for class-wide and individual positive behaviour supports.

This workshop will provide teachers with comprehensive training in the skills and knowledge required to conduct a school-based functional behaviour assessment (FBA). Our aim is to avoid the guessing game we often play when dealing with challenging behaviour and move towards a more function-based approach – providing important clues on how to address the behaviour of concern.

Delivered via videoconference by MultiLit behaviour specialists Jill Hellemans and Micaela Rafferty, it covers:

  • Approaches to Behaviour Management
  • Understanding and Defining Behaviour
  • Functions of Behaviour
  • Antecedents and Setting Events
  • Functional Behaviour Assessment
  • Measurement of Behaviour

As this course assumes a comprehensive understanding of the Positive Teaching methodology, we require that you attend the workshop Positive Teaching for Effective Classroom Behaviour Management, before enrolling in this course. Find out more about this prerequisite and how you can apply for an exemption here.

Please note: By booking into this workshop, you are confirming that you are available to attend each of the three sessions in this series, being:

  • 18 May 2021, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm AEST
  • 25 May 2021, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm AEST
  • 1 June 2021, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm AEST

Registrations should be considered tentative until your booking is confirmed. When booking 5-9 places in a Positive Teaching workshop in the same order, a 10% discount will apply to all participants – find out more here.
