Product Developer: Literacy and Numeracy 

MultiLit is a leading provider of effective instruction in Australasia. We have an excellent reputation for publishing high-quality programs for use in schools. We are now looking to expand our current product development team in Sydney and Brisbane with several positions in the areas of literacy and numeracy. 

About this role

If you are committed to evidence-based classroom practice and have relevant expertise and experience in literacy and/or maths instruction and resource development, you may like to consider joining a dynamic, hard-working team of writers and researchers.  

These roles will be based in our Brisbane or Sydney offices, located in Fortitude Valley and Macquarie Park respectively. The positions are full-time and well suited to an educational professional looking to make a bigger impact on young people’s lives.  

The tasks below are indicative of the range of activities required for a product developer role. Each team member brings their own strengths and expertise to the process. 

  • Collaborating with colleagues to conceptualise new programs 
  • Writing and refining material which includes writing scripted and semi-scripted lessons, and developing supplementary resources as well as in-program assessments  
  • Assisting with school trials, including training and supporting teachers in implementation at the trial stage of a program’s development 
  • Monitoring the efficacy of programs through data gathering and responding to feedback 
  • Keeping up to date on relevant research  

Essentials

The knowledge, skills, qualities and experience required to work in Product Development include the following:  

  • An undergraduate degree in education, speech pathology or related discipline 
  • A thorough understanding of how reading, writing and/or maths skills are acquired and how to translate this knowledge into classroom practice  
  • A thorough understanding of effective instructional approaches backed by current research e.g. explicit instruction  
  • Practical experience in using evidence-based approaches in schools or other educational contexts 
  • Excellent ability to write clearly for different audiences 
  • Excellent attention to detail 
  • Excellent social and interpersonal skills with an ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team across disciplines and locations  
  • Strong organisational and time management skills 
  • Ability to refine work in response to robust feedback from colleagues  
  • Ability to persevere to ensure a top-quality end product 
  • Ability to work to deadlines 
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks at once 
  • Ability to think analytically and creatively  
  • Enjoys problem solving 
  • Competency in using online platforms, such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and Zoom, to ensure collaborative work practices. Competency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for creating professional documents and presentations.  
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum and school culture 

Highly beneficial

  • Post-graduate studies in the teaching of reading, writing, maths, special education or related areas affecting literacy or numeracy 
  • Proven experience developing evidence-based curriculum material and resources for a broader audience than your own classroom, preferably for publication 
  • High levels of competency in use of technology and experience in use of IT in education would be helpful
