Case Study: RTP in MultiLit Literacy Centres

An investigation into the efficacy of the Reading Tutor Program in MultiLit’s Literacy Centres.

MultiLit conducted research into the efficacy of the Reading Tutor Program in its Literacy Centres by testing student outcomes in its Macquarie Park and Bella Vista locationsChildren’s test results in word reading, spelling, phonological decoding, passage reading accuracy, comprehensionand fluency were compared over a 6-month period.

Students enrolled in a MultiLit Literacy Centre are comprehensively monitored by MultiLit tutors. Their progress is shared with parents, alongside frequent Progress Monitoring results. However, a larger-scale research study was conducted to assess the efficacy of the Reading Tutor Program itself, as delivered in MultiLit’s Literacy Centres.

As part of this investigation, MultiLit tested 164 students at the start of the program, and then again after 6 months. The results of this research show the improvements of a larger sample size of children following the same program for only two semesters.

Much of the results indicate accelerated improvement when compared to peers of their age. This was reflected in a range of assessed skills including reading, decoding, comprehension, spelling and fluency.
