MultiLit is a leading provider of effective instruction in Australasia and our mission is to enable effective instruction to ensure every child learns. MultiLit publishes a range of educational programs and products and supports these with comprehensive professional development courses targeting schools and teachers. MultiLit also operates literacy centres, providing tuition to students who have difficulties in becoming skilled readers.
The MultiLit business operates within three business units:
- Professional Development and School Partnerships – providing training face-to-face and online as well as via online self-paced modules in support of MultiLit programs.
- Product Development and Publication Sales – develops literacy programs and educational resources for release primarily to schools and also to the public.
- Literacy Centres – delivering tutoring services face-to-face and online to students. Currently in four locations – Macquarie Park, Bella Vista, Fortitude Valley and Subiaco.
MultiLit’s activities are all underpinned by the MultiLit Research Unit. With its team of PhD-qualified researchers, the MRU carries out research underpinning the programs and services provided by MultiLit and evaluates the efficacy of MultiLit classroom resources, as well as empirical research in other areas of literacy and effective instruction.
As an innovative company growing rapidly, MultiLit has launched a series of initiatives to expand across its major business units. These include:
- A B2C online bookshop – The Bookshop by MultiLit
- Two publishing imprints – MRU Press and Putto Press
- A higher education initiative to supplement teacher education – The Academy for the Science of Instruction
- A community education initiative – Five from Five
- Regional expansion with the launch of new offices and Literacy Centres in Brisbane and Perth.
- The launch of a subscription-based School Partnership Portal including an Assessment Platform.
- Expansion of program suite to encompass spelling, writing and more recently, math.
About the position
MultiLit has an expansive portfolio of websites (multilit.com, customer.multilit.com, Literacy Centres, eLibrary, Nomanis, Academy for the Science of Instruction, Five from Five, The Bookshop by MultiLit), multiple social channels aligned to various business units, and several regular internal and external publications. These communication channels form an important conduit to MultiLit’s customer base and the broader Australian educational community. In addition, the School Partnership Portal to be launched in 2025 will be a key channel for delivery of enhanced content and services to members.
The purpose of the Content Specialist role is to develop, curate, manage and optimise high-quality content across various print and digital platforms to engage, inform and drive action among our target audiences. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of content strategy, excellent writing and editing skills, a high level of digital proficiency, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve company goals.
This mid-range role will be based within the Production team, reporting to the COO and Publisher, and will also work closely with the Sales and Marketing team, as well as other business units as required. This position is based in our brand new office in Macquarie Park.
Key responsibilities
- Content creation: Produce clear, engaging, and SEO-optimised written, video and visual content for websites, blogs, social media, email campaigns, product descriptions and other marketing materials.
- Content strategy: Collaborate with internal teams to plan and execute content strategies that align with business objectives and audience needs.
- SEO optimisation: Conduct keyword research and apply SEO best practices to ensure content ranks well on search engines.
- Content editing and proofreading: Review and edit content for clarity, accuracy, and consistency, ensuring that all materials are on-brand and adhere to style guides, in collaboration with MultiLit’s in-house editor.
- Content distribution: Coordinate the distribution of content through various channels, including social media, email marketing, and websites.
- Website content management: Manage and maintain content across the full suite of MultiLit websites.
- Analytics and reporting: Monitor content performance using analytics tools, provide insights, and adjust strategies to improve engagement, traffic, and conversion rates.
- Collaborative projects: Work closely with designers, marketers, and other team members to create multimedia content that enhances user experience and engagement.
- Trend monitoring: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging content strategies, and best practices to keep the brand’s content fresh and relevant.
Essentials
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience as a content writer, editor, content or specialist with a portfolio of relevant work.
- Strong understanding of SEO principles and digital marketing strategies.
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and basic HTML.
- Experience with social media platforms and content management tools.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to engage with technical content and translate for a variety of audiences.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Highly beneficial, but not essential
- Experience with multimedia content (video, graphics, infographics)
- Familiarity with Google Analytics or other content performance tools
- Experience using Hubspot as a CRM and content platform
- Knowledge of the education landscape, particularly the school sector, in Australia.
