Mentioned in The Canberra Times article, ‘Nonsense’ words are helping kids learn to read’, published on 15 September 2024, St Anthony’s Parish Primary School uses InitiaLit as a part of their structured literacy approach in Kindergarten to year 2.
“I know immediately what I need to fix and what I need to focus on,” Kindergarten teacher Shannon Henry said, when explaining how the program allows her to address any skills her students are struggling with.
Principal Erin Marmont said that since the school introduced literacy blocks in 2021, they have noticed an uplift across all of its data, including NAPLAN results. “The results are telling us it’s working,” she said.
