MultiLit acknowledges the following retraction and apology, issued by the Australian Literacy Educators’ Association (ALEA) and published on its website, in relation to a presentation made by Dr Rachel Cunneen, University of Canberra.
MultiLit thanks ALEA for recognising the defamatory and untrue nature of the statements made by Dr Cunneen. The Directors of MultiLit have always held the view that politics, ideology and dishonesty should not be the basis for a discussion regarding children’s literacy instruction or any subject as important as a child’s education. We continue to support an informed and respectful discourse on how best to ensure all children learn to read based upon the scientific evidence.
