Feedback on MiniLit and Reading Tutor Program

“Our NAPLAN results have come out today. Year 3 results were a stand out”
We implemented a Tier 1 phonics based program in 2013 that was supported by MiniLit and MultiLit interventions in Years 1 and 2. Since 2013 we have seen dramatic improvements. Our 2016 Year 3 cohort is the first group of students who have received and reaped the benefits of this approach from the start of Kindergarten. We have accredited the jump to our school’s implementation of a systematic, explicit phonics program that is supported by MiniLit and MultiLit intervention. Al-Faisal College has now seen consecutive years of improvements in both reading and spelling since 2013. On behalf of the school, I would like to thank you for your contribution to early literacy education. Your work has made such a wonderful impact on the future prospects of our students.

Feedback on MiniLit

“What a fantastic program!”
Thoroughly researched and well planned so it is very user-friendly and practical. Well presented and excellent training session which enabled us to feel confident implementing the MiniLit program straight away. So beneficial to every day teaching as well as helping students experiencing difficulties. Very clear, logical sequence and well paced. Presenter was enthusiastic, approachable, very knowledgeable and happy to offer additional help.

Feedback on PreLit

“I have been so impressed with how easy the PreLit program is to use!”
I really appreciate the explicit teaching elements and the repetition of tricky activities. I am amazed at the skill level and sound knowledge I now see in the class. I can’t recommend this program highly enough to any preschool educator who wants to increase children’s knowledge, skills and interest in reading.

Feedback on the MacqLit Program

“We achieved very good results across a range of literacy skills over a short period of time”
In my experience using MacqLit in a high school setting, I found it builds a range of literacy skills including reading accuracy, fluency, comprehension, spelling and vocabulary. It also builds self-esteem and creates a positive attitude towards reading. We found these skills and confidence transferred over to all their subjects as students were able to participate more and get better results in their assignments and exams. I found that the fact that it was delivered in a group meant that high school students felt more comfortable participating as they were going along with their peers. We achieved very good results across a range of literacy skills over a short period of time. Overall, I highly recommend it as it was such a positive experience in terms of building students’ confidence and reading skills in just one year.

“The MultiLit Reading Tutor Program is the best reading intervention our experienced staff have ever used”
The Reading Tutor Program has been absolutely astonishing in its success to improve our students’ literacy levels, phonemic awareness and word attack skills. For many struggling students it has been an absolute ‘game changer’ for their learning…The MultiLit Reading Tutor Program is the best reading intervention our experienced staff have ever used.

“I think one of the huge benefits for me has been the simplicity of the programme”
I am absolutely delighted at the difference MultiLit has made to our students. We started 12 months ago with 4 students and now have 11 students on the programme [Year 2-7]. We have seen an improvement in at least 12 months on a standardised test for reading rate. The students are motivated to continue with the sessions and for some of the older students [Year 6 and 7] it was the first time they have completed a novel. Their teachers report that they are now engaged in reading tasks in their classes and are making more suitable book selections for free choice reading. I think one of the huge benefits for me has been the simplicity of the programme.

“After around two terms, they had completely changed”
We have been using the MultiLit Reading Tutor Program at our school (K-12) for four years. Our first students participated in the program when they were in Year 6 and are currently in Year 9. We began with 10 low-progress readers attending before-school sessions with teachers and trained parents. Applying the positive teaching strategies we had observed on a visit to MUSEC (Macquarie University Special Education Centre), the students bathed in the feedback they were receiving. Before MultiLit these students had rarely contributed in class, were embarrassed about their reading abilities and had low self-esteem. After around two terms they had completely changed. They were excited about learning, were the first to volunteer to read aloud in class (which completely surprised their teachers) and they entered high school much more confident in their abilities. I can’t speak highly enough of the merits of MultiLit.

“When I explain the background and detail of MultiLit they almost start salivating”
The people I talk to in education are very wary of commercial ‘reading programmes’ with outrageous and unsubstantiated claims, but when I explain the background and detail of MultiLit they almost start salivating! It is as if they are finally being given permission to apply an approach that they know, at least intuitively so, is necessary for those failing to progress in literacy.

“They seek me out for their daily MultiLit lessons”
I have been using the MultiLit Reading Tutor Program with five low achieving year 5 students. I’ve now done three-four lessons with them for 20 weeks. Their confidence, spelling skills, reading fluency and interest in literacy is amazing. They seek me out for their daily MultiLit lessons.
