About this role

We are looking to expand our current product development team to develop a range of new programs and resources. If you are committed to evidence-based classroom practice and have relevant expertise and experience in reading/literacy instruction and resource development, you may like to consider joining a dynamic, hard-working team of writers and researchers.

There are numerous tasks involved in developing a program. Each team member brings their own strengths and expertise to the process. The following tasks are indicative of the range of activities required for the role:

  • Working within a team to conceptualise new programs
  • Writing and developing new material, e.g., scripted lessons, supplementary resources, writing stories for readers, designing assessment procedures
  • Assisting with school trials, including training and supporting teachers in implementation at the trial stage
  • Monitoring the efficacy of programs through data gathering and responding to feedback
  • Keeping up-to-date on research into reading and related areas of literacy

The skills and qualities required to work in Product Development include the following:

Essential

  • A solid background knowledge of how reading and related skills are acquired and able to translate this knowledge into classroom practice
  • Practical experience in delivering evidence-based, explicit instruction to students
  • Ability to write clearly for different audiences
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to provide feedback to colleagues and to receive feedback from them
  • Good interpersonal skills to work within a team as well as interact with teachers and principals
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks at once
  • Ability to think creatively
  • High levels of competency in use of technology

Highly beneficial, but not essential

  • A special education background
  • Experience developing curriculum material and resources
  • A working knowledge of the National Curriculum and school culture is advantageous
  • Experience in use of IT in education would be helpful
