The primary aim of the MRU is to carry out the research that underpins the programs and services developed by MultiLit, and in particular, to evaluate the efficacy of MultiLit’s classroom resources.
The MRU plays a vital role in the development of MultiLit’s instructional programs, assessments and resources. In addition, the MRU works to disseminate the best scientific evidence and new findings in effective instruction as they emerge.
Program development
The MRU is involved in MultiLit’s product development cycle from the outset.
For each MultiLit program or product there is a nominated Product Lead and an MRU Lead, and this team is responsible for its development. A research rationale is prepared by the MRU Lead when a new product development commences, providing the theoretical framework for the new program or resource.
MRU members meet on a fortnightly basis, both separately and together with senior Product Developers, to discuss the progress of current developments.
The MRU conducts program trials in schools to evaluate the results obtained through the program or assessment implementation.
Once a program is published, the MRU continues to study its efficacy and effectiveness through formal research studies, including randomised controlled trials.
This approach means educators can be confident that MultiLit programs and assessments are not only developed based on the latest scientific research, but also that they have been tested in real classrooms.
