The Martin and Pratt Nonword Reading Test, created by Frances Martin and Chris Pratt, has been used frequently in both research and classroom settings since its publication as an index of nonword reading ability. Administration of the Martin and Pratt takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes, with items covering the range of phonemes necessary for reading, increasing in difficulty as the test progresses. The assessment is suitable for primary school aged children aged six to 12 years, and has been developed for use by teachers, special educators, psychologists and speech pathologists.
