Story book reading is a component of every PreLit lesson. The PreLit Story Book Cards provide all recommended activities to work with 36 well-known children’s storybooks. Each double-sided A4 card follows the recommended PreLit method for working with storybooks, presenting activities to do and questions to ask before, during and after reading, along with a selection of vocabulary to highlight over the course of three sessions. The three lessons for each storybook are clearly set out in three separate sections.
Examples of storybook titles include: Green Eggs and Ham (Dr. Seuss), Noni the Pony (Alison Lester), We’re Going on a Bear Hunt (Michael Rosen), The Tiger Who Came to Tea (Judith Kerr), and Slinky Malinki (Lynley Dodd). Storybooks are not included with the Kit and will need to be sourced from the classroom or a library.
