The WSCS (Wheldall Sentence Comprehension Screener) is a test to identify young children who may benefit from targeted language comprehension assessment and support. The test is simple to administer in just 5-10 minutes, with cut-off scores provided to identify children who require further assessment.
The WSCS (Wheldall Sentence Comprehension Screener) is a simple screening measure, assessing the receptive language skills of children entering their first year of school. Administration of the WSCS involves asking the picture that best represents that sentence from four options. Stimulus pictures are designed to be child-friendly, engaging and clear. In total, there are 40 sentences of varying length and grammatical complexity. The test takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.
The Kit comes with a Manual, Presentation Booklet, and a pad of 30 Record Forms. The WSCS can be used by classroom teachers, learning support teachers or other school personnel involved in literacy instruction.
