About this role
We are looking to expand our current product development team to develop a range of new programs and resources in the area of mathematics. If you are committed to evidence-based classroom practice and have relevant expertise and experience in primary numeracy and mathematics instruction and resource development, you may like to consider joining a dynamic, hard-working team of writers and researchers.
This role may be based in Sydney, in our Macquarie Park office, or in Melbourne.
There are numerous tasks involved in developing a program. Each team member brings their own strengths and expertise to the process. The following tasks are indicative of the range of activities required for the role:
- Working within a team to conceptualise new programs
- Writing and developing new material, e.g., scripted lessons, supplementary resources, designing in-program assessment procedures
- Assisting with school trials, including training and supporting teachers in implementation at the trial stage
- Monitoring the efficacy of programs through data gathering and responding to feedback
- Keeping up to date on research into mathematics instruction
The skills and qualities required to work in Product Development include the following:
Essential
- An undergraduate degree in teaching or a related discipline
- A solid knowledge of how numeracy and mathematics skills are acquired and ability to translate this knowledge into classroom practice
- Experience in delivering evidence-based instruction to students (whole-class and/or intervention)
- Ability to write clearly for different audiences and age groups
- Ability to provide feedback to colleagues and to receive feedback from them
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work within a team, as well as interact with teachers and principals
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent work ethic and ability to work to deadlines
- Ability to work on multiple tasks at once
- Ability to problem solve
- High levels of competency in use of technology
- A current Working with Children Check (WWC)
Highly beneficial, but not essential
- Postgraduate studies in the teaching of numeracy, mathematics or related areas
- Proven experience developing curriculum material and resources for publication
- Recent experience in teaching maths and/or developing resources for mathematics appropriate for primary aged students (particularly F–Year 2)
- Held leadership positions in schools
- A working knowledge of the National Curriculum and the complexities of working in a school environment
- Experience in use of IT in education
