One InitiaLit–Foundation Sounds and Words Books for use with a small teacher-led group of students, during small group rotations after whole-class instruction (each student in the group will need a book). This book provides scaffolded practice in reading words and sentences aligned with the tricky word and phonic sequences being taught and is an essential part of the literacy lesson as children work towards fluency. Longer phonically controlled extension texts are also provided. The InitiaLit–Foundation Kit comes with 6 Sounds and Words Books, but schools may wish to purchase an additional copy if a small group has more than six students, or if an original copy becomes damaged. Packs of 6 Sounds and Words books are also available for purchase.
