InitiaLit–Foundation Manual

Teacher’s manual accompanying the InitiaLit–Foundation program, outlining the theoretical framework of the program and the instructional scope and sequence of all skills covered by the program: phonological awareness skills, phonic and decoding skills, tricky word reading skills, handwriting skills, spelling skills and sentence writing skills. Ways in which the program addresses vocabulary and comprehension are also summarised and practical information on how to use each component in the Kit and how to prepare for the year, for each term and for daily whole-class lessons and small-group activities is provided. A number of appendices listing resources, teaching sequences and ‘what to do if…’ advice serve as useful quick reference points for teachers at any time during the year.
