Assessment and Monitoring Reading age between Year 2 and Year 5 The WARP (Wheldall Assessment of Reading Passages) is a quick and simple measure of reading performance for identifying low-progress readers and for monitoring reading progress. It is primarily designed for those who are working with students reading at a Year 2 to Year 5 level. Students read for just one minute from purpose written 200-word passages. The WARP is used both for screening and measuring students’ ongoing progress and provides an early-warning signal identifying those students who may require additional intervention. It is suitable for use by classroom teachers, learning support teachers and other school personnel. No special qualifications in test administration are required, however a 1-day MultiLit Measuring Student Reading Progress for Schools (MSRPS) PD Workshop for teachers is recommended. |

Assessment and Monitoring Reading age between Year 1 and Year 2 The WARP (Wheldall Assessment of Reading Passages) is a quick and simple measure of reading performance for identifying younger low-progress readers and for monitoring reading progress. It is primarily designed for those who are working with students reading at a Year 1 and Year 2 level. The WARL provides a set of 100-word lists, each of which include a selection of the most frequently occurring words, which students read for just one minute. The number of words read correctly provides a measure of the student’s level of oral reading fluency, and the benchmarks provided allow for the easy identification of the bottom 25% of students. It is suitable for use by classroom teachers, learning support teachers and other school personnel. No special qualifications in test administration are required, however a 1-day MultiLit Measuring Student Reading Progress for Schools (MSRPS) PD Workshop for teachers is recommended. |

PreLit – Early Literacy Intervention Program

Early Literacy Preparation Preschool through to Foundation PreLit is a foundational, evidence-based literacy program to prepare children for reading. Essential pre-reading skills and concepts are taught explicitly and systematically in a hierarchical sequence. It can be delivered by teachers, teacher aides, child care workers and parents. The main components include phonological awareness and oral language development through Shared Story Book Reading. There are 108 short, clearly prescribed lessons that are purposeful, playful and can be taught to a whole class, small groups, or individually. The Starter Kit contains a Teacher Manual, Lessons Book, Sound Snap Book, Picture Cards and Shared Story Book Reading Cards based on 36 popular children’s storybooks. It is highly recommended that you enrol in the 1-day PD Workshop, which will assist you to get the most out of this Program. Attendance counts for 6 PD Hours. |

InitiaLit – Whole-class Initial Instruction in Literacy

Whole-class Initial Instruction in Literacy Foundation to Year 2 InitiaLit is an evidence-based whole-class literacy program which will provide all children with the essential core knowledge and strong foundations to become successful readers and writers. InitiaLit is a three-year program, covering the first three years of school (typically Foundation to Year 2). InitiaLit–Foundation was released in 2017, and InitiaLit–1 will be released in November 2018, and InitiaLit–2 will follow in 2019 respectively. There is a compulsory 2-day Professional Development Workshop that must be completed prior to implementation of the InitiaLit–F or InitiaLit–1 program. Attendance counts for 12 PD Hours. |

MiniLit – Meeting Initial Needs In Literacy

Literacy Intervention Year 1 and some pre / post Year 1 MiniLit is an evidence-based, Tier 2 effective early literacy program for young struggling readers (bottom 25% of students). It can be delivered by teachers or teacher aides to up to four students per group. The program is comprised of 80 carefully structured lessons across two levels. Level 1 teaches phonemic awareness, basic letter/sound knowledge and blending and segmenting, whilst Level 2 extends word attack knowledge by teaching common digraphs. Text Reading and Story Book Reading components are included across both levels. The 2-day PD Workshop is central to the Program and provides a detailed overview of the Program, video demonstrations, extensive practice through role-play and help in developing your own road map for your school. Attendance counts for 12 PD Hours. |

MacqLit – the Macquarie Literacy Program for small group instruction

Literacy Intervention Year 3 through to Adults MacqLit is an explicit and systematic reading intervention program for small groups of older low-progress readers. It provides teachers with a comprehensive sequence of lessons that includes all the key components necessary for effective reading instruction: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. The teaching of phonic skills is addressed through 122 carefully scripted lessons, divided into nine parts, delivered to small groups (ideally four students, but with provision for flexibility). Each lesson is designed to last one hour, and for best results should be delivered at least four times a week. Training in MacqLit program delivery is compulsory prior to implementation of the program to ensure quality of delivery. The practical two-day PD workshop counts for 12 PD hours. |

Literacy Intervention Year 2 through to Adults and EFL/ESL The Reading Tutor Program (RTP) provides low-progress readers with the basic skills needed to become functional readers. Teachers, teacher aides and learning support teachers can deliver the Program, which includes Word Attack Skills (phonics), Sight Words and Reinforced Reading (reading connected text), in order to improve students’ reading accuracy, fluency and comprehension. An easy-to-follow lesson format is employed which is explicit, structured and systematic in approach. Book selection is addressed and the RTP Starter Kit includes manuals, cards, student Recording Booklets and a DVD explaining the main features of the program. It is highly recommended that you enrol in the 1-day PD Workshop, which will assist you to get the most out of this Program. Attendance counts for 6 PD Hours. |

Literacy Intervention Year 4 through to Adults and EFL/ESL Word Attack Skills Extension Program (WAS-Ex) is for older students experiencing on-going reading difficulties. The focus is upon instruction in the decoding of multi-syllable words and words with complex letter patterns. Teachers, teacher aides and learning support teachers can deliver the Program. The Starter Kit contains resources for use in the classroom and includes: Manual, Presentation Cards, Student Recording Booklet, and the Reinforced Reading Booklet and DVD. It is highly recommended that you enrol in the 1-day PD Workshop, which will assist you to get the most out of this Program. |

Literacy Support Year 2 through to Adults and EFL/ESL The Reinforced Reading Program is for students who have not acquired the basic skills needed to become functional readers.One of the single most important things we can do to help is to hear them read every day (using text at the appropriate level) for as little as 15-20 minutes.This Program consists of a DVD and a Booklet outlining the key strategies employed and is particularly useful for reading volunteers, teacher aides and parents to help children practise reading.This DVD/Booklet set is available separately and is also part of the RTP and WAS-Ex Kits. |

An explicit approach to teaching spelling Spell-It is a flexible program that assists teachers to plan and implement spelling instruction based on assessment of students’ current knowledge.Designed for upper primary and secondary students, Spell-It teaches the rules, conventions, structure and logic of the English language, to enable teachers to plan effective spelling lessons based on the needs of their students.Spell-It can be used for a whole class, small group or even one-to-one instruction.
